Egg cups are now an everyday part of breakfast dishes. The eggs can be easily eaten even if they are still a bit hot. If you search for egg cups in Google you will find the craziest designs. The situation is similar when you are looking for an egg cup template for your own 3D printer. I couldn’t find a normal egg cup design. So I designed one myself and recorded a SolidWorks tutorial for it. This is also a very useful tutorial if you want to get to know SolidWorks revolved Boss / Base feature. The STL download file is attached at the end of the post.

What size can an egg cup have?

There are 4 egg sizes: S, M, L and XL. This is because eggs differ in both size and weight. Therefore the sizes of eggs for cooking and baking recipes differ. But they are mostly noted in the recipe. If no further description is given in recipes, it is the standard size M from the supermarket eggs.

How to use SolidWorks revolved Boss / Base feature? Tutorial for standard egg cup design

As already mentioned at the beginning, the video below is a standard design for a normal egg of size M. The “revolved boss / base” feature of SolidWorks was used to create the model.

3D printing the egg cup (Time lapse video)

After the design was created in SolidWorks, it can now be saved as a stl file and sliced using Cura. At the end you can print the egg cup. You can now enjoy the breakfast egg every morning from a self-designed egg cup.
